Write a doc with live product, milestone and decision chips
Write briefs and specs that show the live status of the work they describe, so they never go stale.
What you'll end up with
A product brief with live chips for its product, milestone and decision, each showing today's status.
Why it matters
Most product docs are accurate on the day they're written, then quietly drift as the sprint moves. A live chip is a link to the real record that shows its current state, so when a milestone slips or a decision changes, every doc that mentions it is up to date.
Before you start
- A product with at least one milestone or decision
Start the doc
Open Docs from the sidebar and press New document.
Fill in Document title, choose where it Belongs to, and pick a Template if you want one. Press Create document.
Write as normal, with headings, lists and links.
Add live chips
On a new line, type / to open the insert menu. Under live records, choose Product, Milestone or Decision.
The insert menu, with the live record options. Pick the record in the dialog, and it appears as a chip in your text.
To show several records at once, choose List of records.
How it connects
Where the doc sits among the other records.
Troubleshooting
I can't find the record I want to embed.
The picker searches every record in your workspace, not just the current product. Try part of the name, and check the record hasn't been archived.
Can people outside the workspace read a doc?
No. Docs are only visible to signed-in members of your workspace. There's no public link.
Can I turn a doc into a template?
Not yet. You can start a new doc from one of the built-in templates, but you can't save your own doc as a template.
