Plan and run a sprint from the backlog
Get the backlog ready, plan a sprint the team can finish, run it, and close it out honestly.
What you'll end up with
A running sprint with estimated issues, each linked to its epic, and blockers visible on the ticket.
Why it matters
Engineers get a backlog, epics, story points and sprints that work the way they expect. The difference is context: every issue sits under an epic and a milestone, so the why is one click away. And because status comes from the work itself, product managers read progress on the overview instead of asking for updates.
Before you start
- A product with at least one epic (see Add milestones and break them into epics)
- The team's rough capacity in story points
Get the backlog ready
Open the product and go to Backlog.
Press New issue. Fill in Title and Type, choose the Epic, Priority and Story points, then press Create issue.
Use the Unestimated filter to find anything without points.
The Mine, Blocked, Unestimated and Bugs filters.
Plan the sprint
Press New sprint. Fill in Sprint name, Start date and End date, and a Sprint goal if you have one, then press Create sprint.
The New sprint dialog. Drag issues from the backlog into the sprint, or use Move to sprint on an issue's row.
Check the sprint's total points against your team's capacity.
Open the sprint's menu and choose Start sprint, then confirm.
Run the sprint
Open Active Sprint to see the sprint board.
Move issues through their statuses as work progresses.
When an issue can't move, open it and add what it's blocked by, so it shows on the ticket (for example "Blocked by PLS-119"). If it's waiting on something outside Ondule, add a blocking reason instead.

Complete the sprint
At the end of the sprint, choose Complete sprint.
In Move unfinished issues to, choose Backlog or one of your planned sprints, then press Complete sprint.
How it connects
Where the issue sits among the other records.
Troubleshooting
I can't start the sprint.
Only one sprint can be active for a product at a time. If another sprint is running, Ondule offers to take you to it. Complete that one first, then start the next.
How do I see only my work?
Use the Mine filter on the backlog.
Where do product managers see sprint progress?
On the product Overview, which shows the current sprint and its points alongside milestones and risks.
